Katana Tours is a young and innovative tour operator. Established in 2017, we strive to offer our clients authentic travel experiences.
Our experience and passion for travel allows us to fully understand travellers needs and design tailor-made tour packages that suit all kind of budgets and interests.
Whether you would like to get close to wildlife in one of Uganda's beautiful national parks, raft the river Nile, experience the local culture or have a close encounter with the famous mountain gorillas, Katana Tours provides you with individual tour packages that will make your journey an unforgettable experience.
We provide transport in a 4wd minibus with pop up roof. Of course all car costs like park fees, driver/guide, washing, fuel, etc. are included in the rate of your tour.
The cost of the tour includes most meals, have a look at the program for the details.
All journey times are close approximations, as you can never quite guarantee what will happen on the African roads… We could be in for a bumpy ride on parts of the route (which adds to the excitement of being on safari!); we may encounter road-works and of course, there are the photo stops. Either way, you can be certain that although you may be seated for long periods at times during the trip, you will be passing some spectacular countryside and there will always be something of interest to see along the way!
This will be your day of arrival. Your personal Katana Tours driver/guide will pick you up from Entebbe airport and take you to your accommodation.
You will spent the night at 2 Friends Entebbe, a cozy and comfortable hotel not far from the airport
Depending on your time of arrival, you might have some time to explore the city today or just relax in the hotel.
Journey time: 20 minutes Meal plan: No meals included today Accommodation: 2 Friends Entebbe
After an early breakfast, your driver/guide will take you to the famous Sipi Falls in the Eastern part of Uganda.
The Sipi River flows over the foothills of Mount Elgon, forming a spectacular series of three waterfalls, surrounded by village walking trails and lush green coffee plantations. In the afternoon, you will go for a 2 hours hike to visit the waterfalls.
Get ready for a beautiful hike and spectacular views of the three waterfalls. A local guide will accompany you on your hike and explain to you the local flora, fauna and culture.
If you’re up for an adrenaline rush, you can choose to go for an abseiling experience descending off a 100m ridge close to a roaring waterfall (50 USD per person extra).
Journey time: 5 - 6 hours Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner Accommodation: Sipi River Lodge
Today you continue your journey to Moroto, the heart of the Karamoja region. The drive is incredible scenic and you will notice a change in the vegetation.
From lush green countryside to the more dry plains of Karamoja. You will pass different villages and homesteads and get a first glimpse of local village life.
After lunch you will go for a 4 hour guided mountain bike tour that takes you through the area. You will be able to see Mount Moroto.
In the evening you will head to Moroto town for a sundowner picnic from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Today is the day to experience the culture of the Karamajong, a tribe that’s related to the Maasai in Kenya and lives a similar lifestyle.
After a leisurely breakfast it will be time to head for a morning nature walk to Mount Moroto. It is an exciting alternative to the more strenuous climbs in Uganda with many attractions, milder climate, lower altitude and requires no special equipment or technical experience.
During the hike you will also experience the unique way of living and traditions of the indigenous tribes living on the mountain.
In the afternoon you will head for a mining and minerals tour. The night will be spent in Kraal. The Kraal is basically a village made of huts surrounded by fences made of wood and thorns to keep the cattle in and to protect them against rivalling tribes and wild animals.
Some Kraals are permanent and others are temporally as the Karamojong follow the fresh grass to feed their cattle.
During a night at the Kraal you will experience how the Karamajong live. They will bring their cattle back in the Kraal, make local beer (which you can try as well ) and you can be part of the bloodletting ceremony, whereby they tap blood from a cow to drink.
After the traditional goat-roast you will have some dinner for yourself. After dinner you will spend the rest of the night interacting and dancing with the Karamajong or listening to the songs next to the fire until it’s time to go to sleep.
After waking up in the early morning you can see the sunrise on the Karamajong Valley and see the Shepard’s take their cattle from the Kraal to look for fresh grass on the plains.
Only few years ago, tourism in Karamoja was nor possible due to armed inter- tribal conflict but nowadays it is very safe, therefore this experience is unique and will bring you an opportunity to exploit, discover and enjoy its memorable experiences.
Kindly do not expect the services from hotels and restaurants that you would expect in other parts of Uganda.
Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner Accommodation: Night spent in Kraal (camping)
Today it’s time to head further north to Kidepo National Park. This park lies in rugged, semi arid valleys between Uganda’s boarders with Sudan and Kenya. It has the most amazing scenery in the country.
Kidepo Valley NP is a truly hidden gem as only few tourists travel all the way up to this part of the country. But it’s definitely worth the long drive. Most people consider Kidepo as the most beautiful park in Uganda and you will be rewarded with very diverse wildlife and beautiful scenery.
In the afternoon you will go for an afternoon game drive in the park. Expect to see beautiful plains with herds of zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, elephants and lots of different birds. There are also leopards and lions relaxing on rocks in this park. If you’re lucky, you will see them. This will be something worth telling your friends about back home!
Your accommodation for the next two nights will be the basic but nice and clean UWA Bandas located in the middle of the park. You cannot get any closer to nature!
Journey time: 5 hours Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner Accommodation: Kidepo Savannah Lodge (Safari tent)
In the morning you will go for a safari walk in the park. Kidepo Valley NP is one of the few parks where you can have a safari on foot. A guide will accompany you and you will get close to lots of animals in the park.
